Change It Up

The thing that makes banana bread really delicious is that unique flavor you get when it’s made just right. However that doesn’t mean that you can do a few things to make it your own. It should always be your goal to have versatile recipes such as this one that can taste completely different with a few strategic changes.

Consider these changes for a brand new banana bread recipe:

  • Add a scoop of vanilla protein powder for a bigger protein kick

  • Use baby bananas or plantains for a different taste and texture.

  • Instead of nuts use poppy seeds.

  • Add dried cranberries or oranges for a burst of tangy flavor.

  • Combine nutmeg, cinnamon or cloves for a sweet spicy flavor

  • Reduce calories by using Stevia rather than sugar

  • Enhance fruity flavor with sweetened applesauce

  • Try chopped hazelnuts for a totally unique nutty taste.

You can always pour your banana bread batter into muffin tins and make an easy to carry midday snack. Next time you notice your bananas start to brown; don’t toss them into the trash, gather the rest of your ingredients and make your soon to be famous banana bread.
